Job Details
We are looking for a positive, driven and experienced herdsperson to join our young team on a dairy enterprise in the north area of the East Midlands.
Key responsibilities will include milking (through a 24:48 with backing gate), foot trimming, herd health & fertility, grazing management, general stock husbandry tasks and sharing the day-to-day running of the herd. The farm currently milks around 350 cows. The herd is mainly block calved in late spring and is made up of robust Friesian X cattle producing milk on a premium solids contract. Making the most from forage the focus will be on profitable, sustainable milk production with emphasis on high herd welfare.
We are looking for:
• A flexible and positive attitude
• Team player
• Experience in a similar role
• Foot trimming experience/certificate
• Ability to lead the team when necessary
Attitude and willingness to learn is essential, training will be offered to the right person for essential skills. There is an emphasis on continuous personal development and active involvement in a number of dairy discussion groups is encouraged.
