Aspiring Poultry Farm Manager – Somerset

Are you an assistant manager or graduate looking for a pathway into farm management?

This family-run, free range egg farm are seeking an ambitious person who they can train and develop to take over as farm manager. 

The farm is equipped with two, modern, multi-tier sheds, each housing up to 16,000 birds and its own packing room. As a free-range farm, they are committed to maintaining the highest welfare standards and are seeking a farm manager who shares this vision. 

The ideal person for this role will be someone who is driven, receptive to learning new ideas and ready to seize this exciting opportunity with both hands. 

Previous experience working on a layer farm would be advantageous but people from other poultry backgrounds will be considered.

The successful person will benefit from accommodation situated near to the farm and a competitive salary.

Your Role:

• Management of farm staff
• Upholding high welfare standards
• Control ventilation/feeding/drinking systems
• Egg packing
• Vaccination
• Record keeping
• Monitoring and managing production
• Ordering feed and supplies
• Ensuring bio-security measures are adhered to
• Responsible for health and safety of employees

What you will have:

• Poultry experience
• Driving license
• Ability to carry out manual duties
• Basic computer skills and experience of Microsoft Office
