Overview of Role
Work with the Head of the Crop Production pillar (team) to deliver best value procurement and outstanding service for AF members across their fertiliser portfolios and maximise business opportunities.
To actively contribute to the wider pillar business objectives and targets with focus on building strong supply partnerships bringing the highest levels of service and competitive pricing.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
General
• To assist the Head of Crop Inputs in leading the team in delivering a seamless end-to-end member journey from procurement, on-boarding and through management of the supply of Fertiliser product lines
• To proactively identify new business opportunities for AF, and work towards increasing member commitment and volumes
• Using your extensive knowledge of the Fertiliser industry, proactively work towards future aggressive volume growth budgets to include building new relationships and further enhancing existing supplier relationships
• Contribute to business plan and budget forecasting, reporting on performance through monthly board reports and weekly pillar reports
• Review, monitor and update forecast against plan as required, providing necessary supporting commentary
• Develop new and existing product areas
• Ensure knowledge base of the product areas maintains an understanding of any future technical and commercial aspects of relevant markets and any impact these may have on the business.
• Ensure the team are kept informed of any relevant supplier/product/member information.
• Monitor relevant markets
• Ensure the category processes and procedures are implemented and all business activity is accurately recorded and reported, as necessary
• Identify appropriate times to procure additional products and services as the industry requires and communicate this information to the team as required
• Work closely with other Procurement Managers to identify cross selling opportunities and sharing of expertise
• Drive sustainable options and ensure AF are at the forefront of new technology solutions for members
Supplier Relationship Management
• Responsible for procurement of all supplies within category by developing long term partnerships with relevant suppliers
• Continuously monitor and evaluate supplier pricing and service level performance and provide feedback to suppliers to encourage improvements
• Ensure all current suppliers are working within any relevant industry standards
Member Management
• Work closely with membership taking appropriate steps to understand needs and identify solutions to any industry challenges
• Build solid relationships with membership ensuring consistency of service and approach
• Act as an added value interface between member and supplier to build commitment
• Ensure members are kept updated regarding product area changes and industry challenges andchanges
• Seek member feedback to evaluate performance and enable improvements
Team Management
• Highlight and deal with performance management issues (eg PDR’s / disciplinaries) in line with company policy and guidelines
• Develop and maintain the team morale, reviewing team and operational needs regularly and identifying training needs
• Ensure the team are aware of their duties and responsibilities and monitoring their performance against agreed KPI’s for team in line with delivering wider company KPI’s as appropriate
Qualifications & Experience
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience operating in a Fertiliser procurement environment
• Strong technical and commercial knowledge of the Fertiliser industry essential
• Previous management experience
• Competent in writing reports, articles and presenting self in front of an audience
• Data analysis
• Experience in setting and managing budgets
• Strong networking skills
• Able to deal with a variety of personalities
• FACTS certificate
• Key account management experience

• Basic knowledge of seed/crop protection procurement is desirable
